Lead Based Disclosure
Congress passed the ResidentialĀ LeadBased PaintĀ Hazard Reduction Act of 1992 to protect families from exposure toĀ leadĀ fromĀ paint, dust, and soil. HUD and EPAĀ requireĀ theĀ disclosureĀ of any known information onĀ leadbased paintĀ andĀ leadbased paint hazards before the sale or lease of most housing built before 1978

Sellers have to disclose known information on lead-based paint and lead-based paint hazards before selling a house. Sales contracts must include a disclosure about lead-based paint.

Buyers have up to 10 days to check for lead.
